12/2/15 The planning Committee refused the application on the following grounds: Due to the siting of the turbine within the open countryside its scale and massing would result in considerable harm to the visual amenity of the area and also the landscape which is not outweighed by the benefits of the scheme. These significant and unacceptable effects would be contrary to the provisions of CS Policies CS20 and CS18 and the advice in the NPPF and PPG.

15/1/15 The Planning Committee voted that they were minded to refuse the application. There were 196 objections. It will go to Committee again in February for the final decision.

11/1/15 This application will go before the Planning Committee on Thursday Jan 15th. The Planning officer has seen fit to recommend its approval despite inadequate pre-application consultation and admitting there will be harm to the character of the landscape both alone and cumulatively and harm to the visual amenity of the area.

Although this application was submitted and went live on 18th September it is only just coming to the notice of local residents in the second week of October. Since last December applicants have been legally bound to carry out pre-applicationn consultation. This appears to have been minimal in this case with the applicants choosing to interpret the clause in the law which states "The person must publicise the proposed application in such manner as the person reasonably considers is likely to bring the proposed application to the attention of a majority of the persons who live at, or otherwise occupy, premises in the vicinity of the land" as being adequately covered by placing notices on parish noticeboards.

Again this is a site where the turbine will be widely visible and will have a cumulative sequential impact with the constructed turbine s at High Burnthwaite and Peastree and the nearby consented one at Bankdale.
